Plan mode
Plan mode is one of three interaction modes in Ironspire. When active, the agent presents its reasoning and proposed steps before executing any tools, giving you a chance to review the approach.
How it works
Plan mode maps to the SDK's plan permission mode. The agent outputs structured reasoning explaining what it intends to do and why, then waits for your go-ahead before taking action.
This is useful when:
- You want to review the approach before the agent modifies files
- The task involves complex multi-step operations
- You are learning what an agent would do in a given situation
Switching to Plan mode
Three ways to activate Plan mode:
- Click Plan in the interaction mode toggle at the bottom of the chat panel
- Press Shift+Tab to cycle through Normal, Plan, and Auto-Accept
- The toggle highlights blue when Plan mode is active
Plan mode vs. Normal mode
In Normal mode, the agent executes tools one at a time and asks for approval on each. In Plan mode, the agent first lays out the full plan, then executes once approved. This gives you a higher-level view of the work before anything changes.
Use Plan mode when starting a new task to understand what the agent intends to do. Switch to Normal or Auto-Accept once you are comfortable with the approach.
